Benefits of Dental Implants in Gresham, OR
The Benefits of Dental Implants
A long-term solution for tooth replacement.
While more traditional options, such as removable dentures and bridges, must be replaced every 5 years, a dental implant can last a lifetime if properly cared for. Patients with dental implants can expect a high long-term success rate for their new teeth.
Protects healthy teeth and bone.
With dental implants, there is no need to grind down healthy teeth to support a bridge. Implants keep adjacent teeth from shifting, a common occurrence when a tooth is missing for an extended period of time. Dental implants also help to prevent jaw bone deterioration that commonly occurs when teeth are lost.
Most similar prosthesis to healthy, natural teeth.
An implant fits into your mouth similar to a natural tooth. Unlike other restorative solutions that merely substitute for missing teeth, dental implants are true tooth replacements, allowing your replacement tooth to function just like a natural one.
Easier speaking, eating, and maintenance.
You can enjoy chewing and biting into your favorite foods while maintaining the health of your surrounding teeth. Brush, floss, and care for them just like the rest of the teeth in your mouth.
Retain natural facial aesthetics.
Removable dentures or tooth-supported bridges may fall out or loosen during your day-to-day activities. Meanwhile, dental implant patients can smile confidently, knowing that their prosthetic teeth look and function like their healthy natural teeth would have. Dental implants also prevent facial features to sag as a result of tooth loss.
Why Replace Missing Teeth?
Adult teeth are meant to last a lifetime, but when periodontal disease, trauma, or other diseases strike, they may need to be removed or fall out on their own. The oral surgeons at Beacon Oral & Maxillofacial Surgeons offer solutions for patients with one or more missing teeth, so that our patients can return to a healthy and confident smile.
A tooth’s root stimulates the jaw bone, keeping it strong and healthy. Without a tooth, the jaw bone does not get stimulated in that area and weakens over time. This may cause nearby teeth to shift into the empty spot or cause facial features to sag. Dental implants recreate the entire structure of a natural tooth, including the root, and provide the proper stimulation to keep the jaw bone healthy.
Types of Dental Implants in Gresham, OR
- Single Implants. One dental implant can replace one missing tooth.
- Immediate Implants. Your surgeon can place an implant post on the same day as a tooth extraction, reducing the number of appointments needed to replace the missing tooth.
- Implant-Supported Bridges. Dental implants can be inserted to support a bridge where multiple teeth are missing beside each other. This prevents the need to grind down your healthy teeth to support the bridge.
- DIEM® Full-Arch Restoration. Several dental implant posts are inserted to support a fixed denture in one or both arches, resulting in a complete and fully functioning smile.

PODCAST
Dental Implants: Restoring Smiles with Precision and Purpose
In this episode of Oral Surgery Insights, we explore one of the most transformative advancements in modern oral surgery—dental implants. We break down the science, process, and life-changing benefits of implant therapy. From explaining what a dental implant is and how it integrates with the jawbone, to who makes a great candidate and how bone grafting can expand eligibility, this episode offers a comprehensive, easy-to-understand guide for anyone considering tooth replacement options.
Dental Implant Surgery
To assess the condition of your mouth and facial bones, we will take detailed 3D scans during your first visit, as well as discuss your options for anesthesia.
In many cases, patients have already lost the tooth that they will be replacing with an implant. If the tooth is failing, your oral surgeon will remove the tooth from your mouth, usually during the same procedure that the implant is placed. After an appropriate healing time, the dental implant will integrate with the jaw, creating a stable anchor for the abutment and crown. Once fully healed, your dentist will attach the final crown, completing your tooth restoration.
Dental Implant Cost & Value
The cost of your dental implant depends on how many you need, your insurance, your choice of anesthesia, and if you require additional procedures. We discuss all of this with you during the initial visit.
Removable dentures and bridges are cheaper upfront, but they do not keep the jaw bone healthy or prevent bone atrophy. They must be replaced every few years and cleaned using special rinses. Dental implants, however, remain in your mouth at all times and are cleaned with regular brushing, flossing, and dental visits. They protect your oral health for many years to come by fusing with the jaw bone and providing stimulation, unlike removable tooth replacement options.
Denture Replacement With Dental Implants
Patients who wear removable dentures often find that they are cumbersome and require a lot of maintenance. Dentures typically must be cleaned using special products, and if you have removable dentures or partials, you must take your teeth out when eating or brushing. This can make it uncomfortable to eat around others, and the cost of replacing dentures over the years can add up.
Dental implants are an incredible replacement for dentures because they fuse to the jaw bone, just like tooth roots, and restore functionality to your smile. We can place several dental implants that support a fixed denture through full-arch restoration. Call us to learn more about denture replacement in Gresham, OR, and how our oral surgeons can help.

Reviews From Our Dental Implant Patients
"My name is Austin, I’m from Portland, and I came to see Dr. Lieblick for a dental implant. This office is a beautiful, new facility. I like the peaceful nature of the surroundings. It’s very comfortable. Dr. Lieblick has been a very attentive and very capable oral surgeon. What I like about him is his very straightforward approach and his clearly warm and caring personality. And the results have been perfect. I don’t use that word often, but they have been. I have had a fantastic experience here at Beacon. For my friends and family in Portland and Milwaukie, Oregon, I highly recommend Beacon Oral Surgeons."
"My name is Dave. I am from Portland, Oregon, and I came to Beacon to get an implant of my first molar. My dentist, Dr. Doherty, referred me to Beacon. We explored different options, felt that an implant would be the most economic and best solution. I think the professional nature of the staff at Beacon coupled with the efficiency of the process made it a much more stress-free experience. Dr. Rehrer was certainly one that explained everything he was going to do, and certainly, as I went through the process, it was everything they said it would be. I definitely rate my overall experience as five stars."
"My name is Lenea, and I work for Dr. Dennis Macnab in The Dalles, Oregon. So, I have had such a fantastic experience with them on a professional level that my confidence was high that they would treat my family the best possible way, as well as myself. We proceeded forward with the implants—they went fantastic—and then about a year later, I was eating on an olive pit and had an emergency when a tooth fractured vertically and was nonrestorable. Dr. Lieblick’s office got me in the next day because I was traveling to San Francisco for my 25th wedding anniversary the following day. He was able to extract the tooth and place the implant immediately. It was great, and I felt great all through my trip, had no adverse side effects. I think it's a fantastic practice, and we’re lucky to have them in The Dalles."
"Hi, my name is Rick, and I live in Milwaukie, Oregon. I came to Beacon Oral & Maxillofacial Surgery because I had some issues with my teeth. It kind of surprised me, but they came highly recommended. I had my first one about three years ago. Dr. Wendell, who’s now retired, and I’m in the middle of one right now. They put it in about two months ago, and I’ve got to wait another two months, and I’ll be ready to go. It was pretty much seamless. It was one of the easiest procedures I ever went through. They knocked me out, I woke up, and I went home. I didn’t even have to take pain killers. I had the procedure done at 9 o’clock in the morning, and by 4 o’clock, I had no pain. It’s just that simple. If anybody asked me, I’d highly recommend them. They have offices in Gresham and Milwaukie, and I had the procedure done, one here in Gresham and one in Milwaukie, and the whole staff is great. They treat you really good and make it as good as it can be. Dr. Lieblick was pretty much straight forward, to the point, and no messing around. He told me that this was a pretty common one. The first one I had was very difficult. In fact, I’ll even show it to you. It’s right here in front, but the other one is a molar and he said it’d be a piece of cake, and it was. I couldn’t be happier."
"My name is Paula. I work for Dr. Tinkle. I’ve been with him for five years. Working as a professional in the dental field, I have a daughter that I had to have permanent teeth, wisdom teeth taken out for orthodontics and so forth, and that’s how I got to meet the staff. Eventually, I ended up needing a tooth extracted and ended up going with an implant per Dr. Tinkle’s recommendation. So I came for my consult. The staff was great, gave me the whole treatment plan, what I would be looking at, and then turned around and came back and had the dental implant placed. The staff was very professional. I went back to work that same day, turned around, Dr. Tinkle put a temporary on for me, had no swelling, had no pain, and everything was great! I’ve been happy with it ever since. I would do another one if I had to. It feels like a normal tooth, functions as a normal tooth, and I’m very happy! I would come back again. Beacon Oral Surgeons are the best!"
Frequently Asked Questions
Are dental implants or bridges better?
Dental implants are long-term and keep the jaw bone healthy, while traditional bridges sit on top of the bony ridge in the mouth and require healthy teeth to be ground down to support it. The investment to replace missing teeth with dental implants is ideal for both your smile, confidence, and future health.
Do dental implants hurt?
We make your surgery as comfortable as possible by offering many anesthesia and sedation options. Simple extractions or implant placements may only require local anesthesia.
Do dental implants feel real?
The implant post fuses to the jaw bone, creating a permanent addition to your smile. It will feel just like a natural tooth, and the crown is designed to match the shape and color of your other teeth.
Does food get stuck under implants?
Like any other tooth, food can get trapped under a dental implant. Practice good oral hygiene by brushing and flossing daily to keep your teeth clean and clear of debris.
